Our faces are where we see our beauty most as well as our most beautiful flaws. Genetics, age, exposure to the sun, diet, stress, health and lifestyle all play key roles in how long we retain our youthful beauty and perfection over time. Dr. Adam R. Kolker helps you choose the facial rejuvenation option, or combination of options, that will fulfill your needs and wishes most, and performs your procedure in a private, on-site medical suite to ensure your total comfort and safety before and after surgery.
The number of treatments, and treatment combinations, available to us for facial rejuvenation is almost innumerable, ranging from skin care, to non-surgical treatments such as injectables and fillers, chemical peels, laser and light energy, and finally to plastic surgery procedures. A facelift is a procedure that restores the skin and soft tissues of the face to a more youthful position, producing a refreshed, rejuvenated appearance. The facelift procedure is largely "architectural", as it is not meant to simply remove wrinkles in the skin; the facelift is a gravity-defying procedure with which Dr. Kolker repositions skin and muscle that has dropped or settled to the more youthful position in which it originally resided. The goal is always youthfulness and restoration of "natural" soft tissue relationships of the face and neck; never, ever "tight". A facelift is often performed in conjunction with other facial rejuvenation procedures including eyelid lift (blepharoplasty), browlift, fat transfer (autologous fat grafting), and laser resurfacing (CO2, erbium, or fractional photothermolysis).
For those with a loose, puffy, older and tired appearance around their eyes, a restorative lift in this area can help reverse these effects of age. An eyelift, or blepharoplasty, describes the procedure by which excess or drooping skin from the upper eyelids is removed, and bulging fat, and potentially excess skin, from the lower eyelids, is repositioned, removed, or tightened. The result is smooth, refreshed, more youthful upper eyelids, and the elimination of prominent, tired, fatty pouches beneath the eyes. Dr. Kolker uses many different techniques for rejuvenation around the eyes, ranging from injectable treatments (such as Juvederm or Restylane) to fat transfer (autologous fat grafting), to laser treatments (CO2 or erbium, or fractional photothermolysis), to surgical fat repositioning or removal, and removal and tightening of excess skin; he will always entertain the most conservative approach first, and will tailor the combination of eyelid rejuvenation techniques to your particular needs and desires.
Excess fat, loose, sagging skin, and prominent bands of the neck are some of the hallmarks of the aging face. These may be seen following weight loss or gain, and are more often due to the effects of age, gravity, and heredity. Necklift surgery corrects the excess fat of the neck, and depending upon the degree of laxity, necklift can modify and tighten the underlying muscles and connective tissue as well as tighten the loose, sagging skin. Necklift produces more definition of your face, accentuation of your jaw line, and a more youthful appearance. There are a variety of necklift techniques available to you, and the appropriate technique will be tailored to your specific needs.
Age, sun exposure and gravity often produce a descent in the normal position of the eyebrows. Stress and muscle over-activity, in an attempt to elevate the position of the brows, contribute to forehead wrinkling, and an aged look. A forehead lift or browlift restores drooping eyebrows to a more natural and youthful position and smoothes the horizontal lines of the forehead. The browlift or forehead lift procedure provides a fresher, more rested appearance to the eyes and face. A brow lift is often performed in conjunction with eyelid lift or blepharoplasty surgery.
Whether you feel your nose is too large, too small, too broad, too projected, not projected enough, there is a bump, the base is wide, the tip is bulbous, or it droops when you smile, our perceptions of our noses can really affect how we feel about ourselves. Sometimes all one needs is a small refinement, while other times people desire a bigger change. The rhinoplasty procedure, commonly, but somewhat less glamorously, known as a "nose job", describes a wide array of techniques performed to sculpt and refine the appearance of your nose. Dr. Kolker feels that every individual's needs and desires are different, which makes every rhinoplasty different. Dr. Kolker addresses each rhinoplasty with a singularly creative and artistic approach, meticulously tailoring the rhinoplasty procedure to your particular and individual goals and desires.
Facial implants are commonly used to aesthetically improve facial contouring and to achieve a balance of facial features. The results can provide a more harmonious, proportionate look to your face. Chin augmentation, or chin implants, can be performed to produce a more defined chin profile and distinct jaw line, which can dramatically improve a recessive chin or a rounded face and neck. Chin augmentation can also be performed in conjunction with other facial procedures to accentuate the lower face and neck lines; a chin implant is frequently combined with liposuction of the neck, facelift, necklift, and rhinoplasty procedures.
Many people born with prominent ears have found ear reshaping to also be successful in rebuilding their self-confidence. There are varying degrees of ear shape issues, ranging from very mild projection or prominence with normal ear folds and contours, to dramatic prominence with poorly defined folds to more substantial size, shape and fold concerns. Otoplasty surgery corrects prominent or protruding ears and sets them back closer to the head or reduces them in size. Folds and contours of the ears can also be defined and accentuated during otoplasty. Dr. Kolker performs the otoplasty procedure commonly on children and adults.
